The Wrong Patient

"These pictures look amazing, Emily. Maybe we should call it a day," said Bruno Mayer, one of the biggest photographers in the world.

"No, how about a couple more on the little bridge over your pond?" said Emily, who did not want this to end. She had waited nearly two years to have her pictures taken by Bruno and was not going to stop yet.

Bruno looked back at the house, and Emily noticed that he was not really too keen to carry on, but he agreed.

"Okay, just be careful. It's a little slippery on the bridge."

Emily walked over to the bridge, and Bruno snapped away. Then Emily had an idea. She wanted to take a picture leaning against the post of the little chain barrier that went over the bridge, but as she went to lean on it, Bruno called out.

"Don't! It's not very strong!"

Emily fell through the little barrier and into the small pond below. It was not a long fall, but it was an awkward one, and she hit her head on the bridge as she fell in.

Emily knew nothing of the aftermath of her fall: Bruno jumping into the pond to get her out, or the ambulance taking her to hospital. All she knew was waking up to the beeps of medical equipment and the sight of a doctor.

"You're awake! You scared us for a while there, Mr Edwards."

Emily heard what the doctor said but was still too groggy to respond as the doctor continued.

"We'll leave you to rest, but it will soon be visiting time. That should cheer you up."

"What? Mr Edwards... What's going on?"

Emily raised a hand to her face. It was hairy, and she had a ring on her finger.

She then felt her face. It was rough. She then felt her chest. It was flat her boobs were gone, why was everything do hairy then her hands felt between her legs.

"Noooooooooooo!"

Loud screams filled the hospital. She got up from the bed and found a mirror. She gasped as she saw the body of a middle aged man looking back at her. She then felt lightheaded as a nurse asked,

"Mr Edwards, why are you out of bed?"

"I'm a man... It's not right... I'm a woman. My name's Emily..."

The nurses ignored Emily's ramblings and got her back into bed.

The door opened, and a young woman walked in.

"Hi, Dad," she said.

"Dad ?" said Emily as the young woman hugged her, she had so many questions like why was in she in a mans body.

Many miles away, Hank stood in front of the mirror, he was naked looking at Emily's body. She was beautiful, but he had no idea why he was in her body. but as his hands moved so did she and he grabbed her boobs, He was a complete woman as he examined his new crutch area.

All he knew was that when he awoke in her body, all she had was a gash on the back of her head. He had been having a heart attack. What had happened, he had no idea.

But after the doctor gave 'Emily' the all clear, he went to see himself. He looked at his body, hooked up to the machines, looking so frail and ill, with his daughter sitting asleep in the chair.

He was going to go in, but as he went to open the door, he saw his hand on the doorknob. It was young. He was young.

Suddenly, he found himself leaving the hospital with some guy called Bruno, being driven back to her house.

And now he was walking around her house. He was not sure why he had run or why he had no real desire to return to the hospital to try to put things right.

He noticed pictures of Emily all over the walls. She was clearly a model, and he was not surprised. Every time he saw his reflection, he was shocked by her beauty and could understand why so many people wanted to take her picture.

A couple of days passed. Emily remained trapped in Hank's body. She was now having to deal with the aftermath of his heart attack, and despite telling people she was not Hank, it led to nothing other than a brain scan to make sure nothing was wrong.

All Emily could do was try to recover before setting out to find out what was going on, but she still struggled with being trapped in this body.

The more Hank explored Emily's life, the more he realised how successful she was. She had a very busy social life, and her last conversation on her phone was with a man called Bruno, the same guy who had been with Emily at the hospital when Hank awoke in her body.

He feared Bruno might be her boyfriend, but he had left shortly after dropping Hank off at her home.

Suddenly, a text message came through from Bruno, saying he was on his way over to check on Emily and hand over some pictures and a draft copy of her photo shoot in his upcoming magazine.

Hank was worried about this. He was now going to have to be 'Emily' around a complete stranger plus he had to find some clothes to wear he had been walking around this amazing house completely naked.

Hank sat opposite Bruno, who seemed like a nice guy and was apologising to 'Emily' for the accident, as well as his attitude towards her that day. After receiving some feedback, it looked like her spread in his magazine was going to be massive. He then offered Emily the chance to go to Paris Fashion Week, and for some reason, Hank found himself saying yes.

After being discharged from hospital, Emily went straight to her house, but it was all locked up, and her body was nowhere to be seen. Her agent would not talk to her, as she had no idea who 'Hank Edwards' was or why he would want to know where Emily was.

Hank was already in Paris, being shown to a luxury suite that overlooked the Eiffel Tower. He could not believe he was here as he jumped onto the massive bed. He was happy to live Emily's supermodel lifestyle as he wondered what being a model would actually be like.

He thought back to his daughter and his old life. He had not been very close to his daughter since the divorce, and in that moment, he knew that this strange event was a blessing. He was looking forward to his new life as Emily the model.
