We washed off under one of the beach showers and got changed. She was quiet on the car ride back to the apartment - seemingly lost in thought as she stared out the passenger window. When we got back to the apartment she walked around trying to get her bearings. She met me in the kitchen with a solemn demeanor and said that she just needed some time alone, to process. She headed for Stephanie’s, now hers, room. Concerned, as soon as I heard her enter her bedroom I quickly made my way over and quietly cracked open the door to make sure she was alright.
She was standing at the foot of her bed and let her purse slide off her shoulder and drop to the floor.
Sarah let out a large sigh. “I’m back. I’m actually back…” she said with a tone of astonishment.
After taking a moment to soak it in she took a deep inhale, snapping her back to the physical world.
She placed both her hands gently on her throat and softly said, “This voice…”
After a brief pause her left hand suddenly jerked to cup one of her breasts. She looked down and urgently lifted her dress and held it in place by pressing it and her hands against her breasts, as if to move them out of the way to get a better view of her body.
She began to laugh quietly to herself and casually said, “This will take some getting used to, though.”
After pausing for a brief moment she sighed. “But first, I need to get into something more comfortable…” She said to herself as she slipped off the dress and pulled down her black underwear. She glanced at the dresser just to her left and opened the first drawer. “Perfect” she said nodding, finding exactly what she was looking for.
Sarah pulled out blue and white striped thong and carefully stepped into it, sliding it up her curvy legs until the soft cloth snuggly hugged her groin and fabric neatly nested between her cheeks. She grabbed a cut off henley from the top of the dresser and threw it over her head, the shirt barely covering her breasts.
Her journal laying on the bed caught her eye, she slid across the top blanket and began to read.
As quietly as I opened the door, I closed it. “At least she’s adjusting, she seems much more comfortable to be back than I originally expected.” I thought to myself as I turned to go make us some lunch.
………………..
“Sarah!!! I made us some lunch!” I yelled 20 or so minutes after I had left her doorside.
There wasn’t a response so I knocked on her bedroom door.
Knock Knock “Sarah? I made some lunch for you.”
I heard a cough come from the other side of the door, “Thanks love, I think I’m just going to eat in my room. I just really want to be alone right now. You can leave it on the floor, I’ll open the door and grab it in a bit.” She said.
“Okay.” I said worried as I set the plate on the floor in front of her door.
“Maybe she wasn’t adjusting as well as I thought?” I said in my head.
